NOTE: This is the address of the gated entrance. The FS
road into the cabin is just a “driveway” as far as Tulare
County is concerned.
Come to the Poso Station Cabin – where you can experience
camping with a view! The unique cabin is available for
over-night rental on a year-round basis. Poso Station Cabin
was constructed in 1933 near the small town of Posey to
provide a residence for fire patrolmen stationed in the
area.
Poso Station Cabin is located in the Giant Sequoia
National Monument, in the Sequoia National Forest. The
expansive views of the San Joaquin Valley and surrounding
mountains are impressive and visitors can also enjoy a full
view of the night sky. Bring a telescope for the stars and
binoculars to view the wildlife. Nearby activities include
hiking, mountain biking, hunting, and more.
The cabin has electricity, hot and cold running water,
and a furnace for fall and winter seasons. It has one
bedroom - equipped with a queen and a twin bed. The living
room has a double hide-a-bed couch that sleeps 2. There is
ample room for cots and tents outside, and space to
accommodate a motor home, although there are no hookups
available. It also has a fully equipped kitchen including a
stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots
and pans, dishes and utensils, and a small table. It has a
bathroom with a flush toilet and a tub-shower. Outside the
cabin are a picnic table and a campfire ring. Cabin users
should provide: linens, pillows, blankets, towels,
toiletries, food, and trash bags. Suggested additional items
include toilet paper, paper towels, camp chairs, wood for
the outside fire ring, insect repellent, dish towels, and a
camera!
Comfortable is the word that describes this cabin, which
is located at the 4,500 foot elevation. Temperatures range
from the 20’s in the winter to the high 90’s in the summer.
The weather can change suddenly, so visitors need to be
prepared with warm clothing. In winter, the short drive up
to the cabin may not be possible without tire chains.
Poso Station Cabin is truly a peaceful and quiet
reprieve, and is perfect for friends and families to gather
and enjoy the great outdoors.
